The photos above show the Seat Concepts seat for the Yamaha WR250R (and WR250X) with the Black and Blue Gripper cover. This seat features a Black Gripper material on the top of the seat, and a Yamaha Blue Gripper material on both sides of the seat. The Blue material is an excellent match to the bikes blue plastics and looks great on the bike.

WR250R Seat Concepts Seat - Low Height vs. Standard Height

The photo above shows a comparison between the Seat Concepts Low Height Seat and the Standard Height Seat for the 2008+ Yamaha WR250R (and WR250X). The low height version is about 3/4" lower than the stock seat height, while the standard height version is about the same height as the stock seat.

In addition to their popular seat kits, Seat Concepts is now offering a complete bolt-on seat for the 2008+ Yamaha WR250R and WR250X which consists of their foam and seat cover installed on a Spiral seat pan. The seat installs on your bike in a matter of seconds using the OEM mounting points (2 bolts). Fit and finish is top notch and the comfort level on these seats is great.

I've been riding with Seat Concepts seats on my WR250R (and my WR250X) for the last few summers. I run the low foam version, so not only does it help me with the bikes tall seat height, but the seat is also much more comfortable than the OEM seat thanks to a wider seating surface and slightly softer foam. I've done several 250+ mile days with no issues... couldn't say the same thing for the stock seat!

NOTE: Seat Concepts still offers their seat kits if you want to save some money and just use your stock seat pan to install their foam and cover (see "Seat Kit" link below).

WR250R IMS 3 Gallon Gas Tank

I've had a few email requests to show close-up photos of the IMS 3.1 gallon gas tank and how it fits on the bike with the stock plastic tank shrouds. Click the 3 photos above for some closeup shots of the IMS 3.1 gallon tank along with a Seat Concepts seat.

I went with the black tank, which works well with the blue/white plastic on the bike. Fit and finish is really good and my stock tank shrouds fit perfectly. The tank is taller than the stock tank, but it still works fine with a Wolfman tank bag.

WR250R Seat Concepts Seat Kit Review

 
I've been riding with the Seat Concepts seat kit on my WR250R (and my WR250X) for most of the summer. I've been using the low foam version, which is about 3/4" lower than stock. It also happens to be wider (9 3/4" at its widest point), and has slightly softer foam than the stock seat. The combination of softer foam and wider seat surface make it really comfortable, especially for longer rides. I've done several 250+ mile days and this seat is a HUGE improvement over the stock WR250R seat. The lower seat height also gives me more confidence when riding off road, and I'm now much more comfortable pulling up to stop signs and stop lights when riding on the road.

My seat has the black gripper/carbon seat cover, which is pretty grippy compared to the stock seat. I like it, but if you prefer sliding around a little more on the seat, I'd recommend the all carbon seat cover, which still offers a little bit of grip, but you can move around better. If you do a lot of long rides on your WR250R/X and want a lower and wider seat, the Seat Concepts Seat with low seat foam option is definitely the way to go.

Cover Material Options:
The Black Gripper/Carbon cover has gripper material on top of seat and a carbon vinyl material on the sides. It's great for aggressive riding or being held in place. If you like to slide around, it might not be the best choice. The all carbon cover is a black vinyl that has a carbon fiber pattern made into the surface for a good look. There is a texture that acts like a very light gripper material and it's easier to move around on the seat.

Foam Height Options:
The Low Height foam is about 3/4" lower than stock, but wider. The Standard Height foam is the same height as stock, but wider.

What You Get:
The kit includes seat cover and replacement foam. It DOES NOT include the seat pan. Most people will use their stock seat pan, and install the Seat Concepts foam and seat cover on it.

WR250R Seat Concepts Seat Kit vs. WR250R Spiral Step Seat

For the last month or two, I've been switching back and forth between the WR250R/X Spiral Step Seat and the WR250R/X Seat Concepts Seat (Low Foam Version) on both my WR250R and my WR250X. Here are my thoughts on the two seats...

Installation:
Installation of the Spiral Step Seat, which is a complete seat, takes just a minute or two... you just take the two bolts holding the stock seat out, pull it off the bike, put the Spiral on and put the two bolts back in... simple as that. The Seat Concepts Seat comes as a seat kit, which includes their seat foam and cover. You have to install it on your stock seat pan before you can bolt it on the bike. Most customers seem to do it themselves, but some may choose to have a local upholster do it.

Overall Impressions:
The Spiral Step Seat lowers the seat height about 1 inch, which is great for riders who have issues with the tall stock seat height. The seat works fine for shorter rides (around 100 miles) and, to me, it is slightly more comfortable than the stock seat. For longer rides I definitely prefer the Seat Concepts Seat. The Seat Concepts with low foam is about 3/4" lower than stock, is wider (9 3/4" at its widest point), and has slightly softer foam. The combination of softer foam and wider seat surface make it really comfortable, and ideal if you put a lot of miles on your bike each ride.

The Bottom Line:
If you mainly do shorter rides on your WR250R/X and need to lower the overall seat height, the Spiral Step Seat will probably work fine for you. It's super easy to install and you don't need to tear apart your stock seat to install it. If you do a lot of long rides on your WR250R/X and want a lower, but wider, seat, the Seat Concepts Seat with low seat foam option is the way to go....just keep in mind, you need to install it on your stock seat pan.

Spiral Step Seat installed

I got a few goodies installed on my new WR250R today, one of which was a Spiral Step seat. I like these seats because they help get me a little bit lower on the bike, and they seem to be pretty comfortable. I have one on my WR250X as well, and IMHO it's the next best thing to a full custom seat. The seats have a durable black gripper seat cover and they bolt right on to all 2008+ Yamaha WR250R's (and WR250X's). Installation is super easy... you just take the 2 bolts out that hold the stock seat on, and use them to attach the Spiral seat... it's super easy. Here's a side profile shot.

Spiral Step Seat for Yamaha WR250R

The seat height of the WR250R is a common problem for shorter riders. One solution is a shorter aftermarket seat. The Spiral Step Seat helps lower the overall seat height by about 1". It features a durable black gripper seat cover and is a direct bolt-on seat for the Yamaha 2008+ WR250R (and WR250X). Installation takes a minute or two... you basically remove the 2 bolts that hold the stock seat on, remove the stock seat, and bolt on the Spiral seat. It's that simple.
